Skyview Acres Cooperative, Inc is many things. It is a tract of over 100 acres of beautiful densely wooded land in Rockland County, NY. It is the home of forty-six families of different ages, races, religions, political affiliations and economic status. It is loosely organized as a community in which the members are free to participate as they wish in social, athletic and children’s activities. My father, Edward Simons, a member of Local 802 for 71 years, died on June 26 at the age of 101. He was the oldest orchestra conductor in the world. Besides being a conductor, my father was a violinist and teacher. He and my late mother Janet, a violist and pianist, were a powerful musical team who spread their love of music far and wide in Rockland County and beyond...
